Recently, the University of Georgia School of Law dedicated the James E. Butler Courtroom

By Butler Prather LLP on December 2, 2016

Recently, the University of Georgia School of Law dedicated the James E. Butler Courtroom. Located on the first floor of Dean Rusk Hall, this courtroom honors three generations of the Butler family. The occasion included the unveiling of a portrait of James E. “Jim” Butler, Jr. (JD‘77) by artist Beth Stephens that hangs outside the courtroom.

Butler has had an impact on the legal profession, both in and outside the courtroom, and has been a generous volunteer and donor to the law school, including establishing the James E. Butler Scholarship and helping to launch last year’s Challenge Fund (the successful effort, exceeding expectations, will allow the school to offer up to 66 new quarter scholarships). He also played a role in creating the Sic Vos Non Vobis Scholarship that supports talented law students.

I was in a complex premises liability case involving a multinational corporations. Mr. Butler & his associates were always three steps ahead of these defendants. When they say they are "exceptional trial lawyers," this is not just a slogan but it is a way of life.”
