“BWP Cares” Delivers Over 33,000 Meals to First Responders

Butler Wooten & Peak created a non-profit organization by the name of BWP Cares to provide meals to medical providers and heroes on the front lines in Columbus, Atlanta & Savannah, Georgia during the COVID-19 pandemic. BWP made the initial seed donation to get the project started and since April 3 over 33,000 meals have been delivered to healthcare workers and first responders. Community members and businesses have donated to purchase more meals for our healthcare heroes. All meals have been purchased from locally owned restaurants. BWP Partner Joel O. Wooten Named to Georgia Business Court Rules Commission

BWP Partner Joel O. Wooten has been named as one of eight inaugural members to a commission created to help formulate the rules for Georgia’s new Statewide Business Court. All of the new Business Court Commission members were chosen because of their professional expertise and dedication to public service, said Business Court Judge Walter Davis. Among the new commission’s first tasks will be formulating the rules for the business court. The Georgia Statewide Business Court, a new class of court, was established by constitutional amendment in 2018, and will begin hearing cases on August 1, 2020.

BWP Lawyers Secure Record-Setting Verdict: $280 Million

BWP lawyers Brandon Peak, Joel Wooten, Chris McDaniel, Ramsey Prather & Team secured a record-setting verdict in the amount of $280 million in the wrongful death tractor-trailer case of 58 year old Judy Madere v. Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc., Schnitzer Steel Southeast, Inc. & their truck driver on Friday, August 23. Madere was killed along with her twin sister, her daughter & her two grandchildren after the truck driver crossed the center line & hit their vehicle in its lane of travel.
